Ineffable

Ineffable is a simulation engine for one-of-a-kind, interactive narrative experiences in living worlds that grow along with the player

While games have grown rapidly in graphical fidelity, they have diminished in their most promising and interesting feature – emergence

Possibility Filters actions based on possibility Probability Applies a weight to each action Selection Randomly selects an action Outcome Computes the outcome Backpropagation Character learns from the outcome Next Repeat flow for the next character

Inspired by Dynabook, A Young Lady's Illustrated Primer, Dungeons & Dragons, Story of Seasons, Roy, and so many other efforts, Ineffable is a system designed to enable the creation of open-ended stories and never-ending worlds

The guiding goal behind Ineffable is to give players (and non-player characters!) as many options as possible at any given moment

Current efforts are focused on a proof-of-concept wizard school lifesim project for iOS, Ineffable: Thesis, which will be followed by the release of a specification and development of Ineffable: Eschaton, a full lifesim project
